My academic background includes an undergraduate degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Florida State, including a Developmental Disabilities certification. I also have a graduate degree from Adelphi University where I focused on Childhood General and Special Education grades 1 - 6. My classroom teaching experience spans almost six years. Today, I work as a fourth grade GT math and science teacher for the Klein Independent School District. I have also taught second, third, and fifth grades. I hold a State of Texas certification for Special Education EC-12 and Generalist EC-6. Being a teacher excites me. It is my true passion and continually offers me the chance to make a real difference for students.I have adapted teaching techniques to fit various learning styles. I have helped third graders prepare for their NYS exams and fourth and fifth graders prep for the Texas STAAR, and I've taught Foundations to small groups of second graders.Outside the classroom, I have served as a liaison between the administration and teachers and brought together different initiatives to weave technology and computers into lessons. Specifically, I have organized and created events in the community to encourage educational collaboration and initiated a writing and reading workshop based on the needs of the students.
