Nicole M.
Private tutor in Magnolia, TX
Education
I graduated from college in New York with a 3.7 GPA, a math major, a psychology minor, and NY teacher certification for math, grades 7-12. I also have my teaching certificate in the state of Texas.
Experience
I have been teaching 9th grade algebra in Houston since 2011. I began teaching ESL algebra to students who are new to the United States in 2012. I've found teaching English language learners to be an unexpected passion of mine. In my third year of teaching, I was awarded Teacher of the Year at my school. I've tutored and volunteered in academic settings since I was in high school and have worked with students in grades 4 through 12. Although my professional teaching experience has been primarily in the area of algebra 1, I also have experience teaching various math subjects from 7th through 11th grades. I have been rated "Highly Effective", the highest possible rating, on my annual appraisal each year since I began teaching in 2011. My administrators frequently send current and perspective employees to observe my classes. I have had student teachers and have been a mentor teacher to multiple new coworkers. I am extremely passionate about teaching and I believe that's apparent to not only my students, but my coworkers and administrators as well. I LOVE my job and truly value every opportunity to have a positive influence on my students.
